Cobra Good Curry Guide Awards
‘Victoria’s India’ nominated for ‘Most Welcomed Newcomer’ At the Cobra Beer ‘The Good Curry Guide’ awards! 19th Dec 06 The Hilton Park Lane London. We at Victoria’s India are proud to announce two very prestigious events for our restaurant and head chef Bishal Rasaily. These two events come within our first year of opening and are a direct result of the beautiful authentic and health Indian food that Bishal creates. The first event was earlier this month, when we heard that we had been awarded a TOP 100 placing in the 2007 COBRA BEER ‘The Good Curry Guide’ (out in November) The significance becomes apparent when you consider, that there are nearly 9000 Indian restaurants in the UK. The second and in some ways more significant event happened earlier this week, when we were advised that we had been nominated as the ‘Most Welcomed Newcomer’ at this years COBRA BEER ‘Good Curry Guide’ awards, to be held in London on the 19th of December. This indeed is a great testament to the quality of Bishal Rasaily food. We understand that we are the only nominee in the ‘Most Welcome Newcomer’ category, to come from outside of London. We at ‘Victoria’s India’ are trying to bring, London-Bombay quality, authentic Indian food to the North West of England. We have been told by clients that our food and service are as good as such renowned restaurants as ‘The Veranda’ in Edinburgh and ‘Chutney Mary’ in London. We trust from the comments we have received, that we are heading in the right direction! (Please see client comments on next page) Our head chef Bishal Rasaily firmly believes in healthy eating, using only prime quality natural produce. In addition he feels that no colours, ‘E’ numbers, or additives, other than natural spices, should be in Indian food and that natural colours are more than adequate for presentation purposes. Therefore in partnership with our suppliers of locally reared and sourced, prime produce. He is confident that you will delight in his beautiful authentic and healthy Indian food. Bishal’s speciality cuisine is ‘Dum Pukht’ (with steam) which he was trained in, under the world renowned master chef Imtiaz Qureshi in Bombay, India. We would also like to inform current and future clients, that only Popadums, Samosas and Onion Bhaji are pre-cooked. All our meat, supplied by local butcher & baker, Martin Carefoot, is prepared on the day or evening before, then marinated for between 6-12 hours to add the succulent flavours of Bishal’s Masalas. Only when you place your order, will your dish be fresh pan cooked. Other items from the Tandoor are cooked on an ongoing basis, having been marinated earlier. Please note: It is possible some clients may find the colour of our dishes unusual in that the Masala gravy is not bright red or even orange. Please don’t worry! It’s only natural! In summary, please find below some comments left by recent clients: We had a round trip of 100 miles, on a recommendation from friends we would like to tell you that it was worth it!! Superb atmosphere complimented by wonderful service and extremely innovative food. We will be back soon! (Son) This is the first time in our 60 years that our son has persuaded us to try Indian cuisine: The experience was exquisite: we like are son will be back soon, now that we have discovered this lovely cuisine. (Mum & Dad) Mrs Marion Jones of Goosnargh. Preston. ALSO.... We at Victoria's India are proud to announce a new venture. In conjunction with 'Greenhalghs Craft Bakers' of Bolton we are about to launch a range of 'Indian Tiffin Pies' throughout all 43 of Greenhalghs shops, in the Northwest of England. There will initially be three pies in the range, Vegetable, Chicken & Vegetable and Meat & Potato (yes more meat than potato). Many long months have gone into developing these unique pies, which come from original recipes of our head chef Bishal Rasaily. He is one of the best young Indian chefs in the UK today. He was born and educated in Darjeeling and when he chose his career as a chef, he embarked on the Indian government 4-year apprentiship, which entailed working in various 5 star hotels throughout India. Bishal was working at the world famous Taj Sheraton Hotel in Mumbai when he was head hunted to come to the equally famous Chutney Mary's restaurnat on Kings Road Chelsea, London. The group that owns Chutney Mary's is one of the few Indian restaurant chains to have attained a 'Michelin' star. We at Victoria's India have been very fortunate in finding and persuading Bishal to come to our restaurant in Longridge, where he has been transforming peoples opinions about good authentic Indian cuisine, for nearly a year now. He has a strong belief that Indian cuisine is one of the healthest cuisines in the world and feels that it offers a balance of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and fibre, which will over time yield a healthier lifestlye. We believe that these 'Indian Tiffin Pies' will delight anyone who tries them. They represent a wonderful authentic taste (from a genuine original recipe) cooked with quality ingredients in a beautiful short-crust pie. Greenhalghs have an enviable reputation when it comes to baking healthy, high quality products and have invested considerable time working with Bishal to bring these extraordinary pies to the market. With time we intend developing the range and will announce new products as they evolve. Please try one! I promise you will not be disappointed. Our 'Tiffin Pies' are available from all 43 'Greenhalghs Craft Bakery' shops from mid September 2006. Please view their website
They are also available from 'Martin Carefoot Butcher & Baker', of Inglewhite Road, Longridge.
