About Longridge

Longridge lays at the centre of a rural quadrant, 7 miles to the north east of Preston. This, quadrant is framed, by two arterial roads. One road leading north, the A6 to Lancaster the other, the A59 leading northeast, to Skipton parallel to the course of the river Ribble.

This whole area in recent years has become a very desirable place to live, almost certainly because of the beauty of the Ribble Valley. A rural haven of spectacular  scenery the majority of which is known as the 'Forest of Bowland', the eleventh largest of the 40 designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) in England and Wales. This is a special place full of mystery and legend, stunning countryside and diverse natural habitats.

The Ribble Valley has a wide selection of first class accommodation, restaurants and shops, with a reputation for high quality service, good value for money and a very friendly welcome.  Longridge at the heart of the area and on the edge of the beautiful Forest Of Bowland has a unique location. Being the local area market town, the commercial and historical catchment of Longridge is some 5-6 miles in diameter.

From Garstang in the west to Clitheroe in the east. And from the outskirts of Preston in the south to Chipping in the north. We are blessed with many fine hotels and restaurants in the Longridge area and 'The Forest Of Bowland'. The 'Inn at Whitewell is renound for its beautiful rooms, stunning views and countryside, complimented by a restaurant we all envy!

In Longridge we have a good contemporary quality restaurant 'Thyme' and 'Paul Heathcoats' original establishment. Also in the Ribble Valley we have 'Northcote Manor' to those who know, we needs say no more! As for us competition, its another one for the envy list!

There are many others worthy of note!

The population of Longridge continues to grow significantly, particularly since the designation of Preston, as the newest city in the UK. Longridge has seen the town and its environs become a commuter suburb of Preston and Manchester and with its location on the edge of 'The Forest of Bowland' it represents a fine semi rural environment in which to live.
